I am a PhD level Clinical Psychologist who specializes in assessments for children, youth, and young adults. I specialize in assessments of Autism Spectrum Disorder, ADHD, and mental health diagnoses (mood and anxiety disorders, trauma-related disorders, eating disorders, behavioural concerns). I also provide psycho-educational and giftedness assessments.
Each assessment is comprehensive, evidence-based, and tailored to each individual’s unique needs. I am passionate about helping my clients and their families to understand the underlying causes of their difficulties and illuminate a path toward their full potential. Dr. Carly McMorris

Dr. Carly is a Registered Psychologist (Alberta) with expertise in working with children and youth with neurodevelopmental conditions and mental health issues. She completed her Bachelor of Arts (Hons) in Psychology at the University of Calgary and earned her PhD in Clinical-Developmental Psychology from York University (Toronto, Ontario). She completed her CPA-accredited clinical internship at The Hospital for Sick Children (SickKids; Toronto, Ontario), with a focus on eating disorders and suspected child abuse and neglect. She has worked in a range of hospital and community mental health settings and is also a researcher at a Canadian University. In this role, she identifies the best approaches to supporting the mental health needs of neurodivergent people and teaches psychology trainees to provide compassionate and neuro-affirming care. She also works with autistic and neurodivergent people to co-develop neuro-affirming mental health prevention and intervention strategies and has published extensively in this area. As a psychologist, educator, and researcher, Dr. Carly’s excellence and commitment to field of neurodevelopmental conditions has been recognized via national and local awards such as Avenue Magazine’s Top 40 under 40, the Kid’s Brain Health Network Early Career and Mentor Award, and a Killam Emerging Leader in Research Award.
Over the last 20 years, Dr. Carly has had extensive experience in assessing and working with neurodivergent children, youth and young adults. She has substantial experience providing therapy to children and youth, and has expertise in autism, ADHD, anxiety, depression, emotion regulation, and disordered eating. Dr. Carly’s approach is strengths-based, neurodiverse affirming, relational, and integrative. As a scientist-practitioner, her work is guided by evidence-based methods, which include cognitive-behavioural therapy (CBT), dialectical behaviour therapy (DBT), acceptance and commitment therapy (ACT), mindfulness, and unified protocol approaches. She provides a warm, empathetic, and accepting space, while tailoring her therapeutic approach to each person’s needs and goals.
